Barrow upon Soar Neighbourhood Plan: Community Engagement
Our Neighbourhood Plan is a community-led framework for guiding future development in the parish. Local people have had plenty of opportunities to influence the Plan.

Open Event
The aim of this first event in January 2014 was to engage with the community, explain what a Neighbourhood Development plan was and what it could achieve and to ask the community to identify the key issues and opportunities for the settlement.

Second Open Event
The second event was more 'low key' than the first event. The parish offices were opened on Saturday 15 March 2014. The aim of this event again, was to engage with the community, explain what a Neighbourhood Development plan was and what it could achieve and to ask the community to identify the key issues and opportunities for the settlement.

Consultation Survey
The results of the Neighbourhood Plan Consultation Survey delivered to every dwelling and business premises in Barrow upon Soar in September 2014. Responses could be returned to the Parish offices or completed on line.

Young People Survey
This questionnaire sought the opinions of 346 young people between the ages of 10 and 16 years, who attend the Humphrey Perkins School in Barrow upon Soar. The young people were asked their opinions of the village currently and their ideas for improvement.

Stakeholder Event
A workshop for parish councillors and key stakeholder was held on 24 March 2015 to look at the principle issues that the Neighbourhood Plan will need to address.

Issues and Options
This looked at the key issues raised and options for the future of the village. A summary report was sent to all residents and businesses in December 2015 which invited people to respond to an on-line questionnaire survey.

Pre-Submission Neighbourhood Plan
The first version of the Barrow upon Soar Neighbourhood Plan was published for consultation in June 2016 and a summary of the plan was delivered to all households in the parish. A 'Drop-in' session will also take place on Thursday 23 June at Barrow upon Soar Community Library
